   Introduction

computers There are many different types of computers used in organizations, most of which are tied to a network. Some of these computers are small and can only run a limited amount of applications. Others are large and can run many applications and service many users at the same time. This lesson looks at classifications of computers found in networks and the primary purpose of each type. Computer classifications include:

Desktop computers

Mid-range computers and servers

Mainframe computers

Others
