NetBIOS Extended User Interface (NetBEUI)
NetBEUI is Microsoft's LAN Manager Transport Layer driver used in LAN Manager. IBM developed NetBEUI in 1985 as a network transport protocol for LANs. In relation to the OSI model, NetBEUI is a Network and Transport Layer protocol. NetBIOS and NetBEUI are integrated in the LAN environment to provide an efficient communications system.
Network File System (NFS)
NFS is a file management system commonly used in UNIX-based computer systems.
Network Interface Card (NIC)
A NIC is any workstation or PC component (usually a hardware card) that allows the workstation or PC to communicate with a network. A NIC address is another term for hardware address or MAC address. The NIC address is built into the network interface card of the destination node.
Network Operating System (NOS)
NOS is the software that manages server operations and provides services to clients. The NOS manages the interface between the network's underlying transport capabilities and applications residing on the server.
